Legacy Challenge

We have a team of children in Y5 who are the Legacy Workers. They have been trained externally to be able to lead a range of activities in school to help us to become more active and take more care of our levels of fitness. They went round each class

today and explained how the leaflet works and they want to encourage you all to take part.

Energise Workshop

Energise are a group of people who help people to understand about Christian Beliefs in a fun and interactive way. We we’re lucky that they came to our school as we are learning about Christian beliefs too. The first activity that we did was we we’re given a Sticker to put on our foreheads and we had to guess who we were without anyone telling us. The aim of this was to see who you were and to help  make the right choice. We also learnt that Christians believe that we should trust one another and we did this by playing a blindfold obstacle course. One person tells you the right way and one the wrong. You need to learn to trust the right path. It was a really good workshops and we even got some sweets as well as learning more about Christian beliefs!

Internet Safety!

ImageStaying safe online – really important news.

In order to stay safe, we need you to know how to stay safe when you are online. You need to know what to do if someone you don’t know tries to message you or if someone puts words or pictures that are rude online.

In the last few days, some children have been receiving horrible messages on games like Movie Star Planet – not in our school but in other schools in the country. These are often sent by children pretending to be adults.

Remember these simple steps to stay safe:

  1. Check the websites/games you are on with a trusted adult
  2. Always tell a trusted adult straight away if something online upsets, worries or frightens you. You can always talk to your teacher if you are unsure.
  3. Save any messages that have upset you so you can share them with a trusted adult. You haven’t done anything wrong and it is really important an adult sees them.

Can you recommend any books you think year 5 children would like to read?  Which is your favourite book? Can you explain why you like it? Leave your comments below…   Also read the comments and try to read one of the recommended books 🙂

Debates!

Today. as part of our learning journey, we have been debating about moral issues. One was:

Jane is walking down the road when she sees a 50p piece which has been dropped on the floor. There is no one else nearby, and she can’t tell who has dropped it. She has a choice.

1. Take the money and keep it for herself.

2. Tell her parents that she found the money.

3. Leave the money where it is.

What do you think? Here is a picture of us debating this issue and many other more serious dilemmas.
