Maths through Art

The whole school took part in an exciting couple of days where we explored maths in pieces of art. We used Wassily Kandinsky as our inspiration and in particular we looked at the picture ‘Swinging’. We really enjoyed developing our mathematical skills as well as creating some high quality artwork ready for the exhibition at Whisby Nature Park over the summer. If you come to the open afternoon on Thursday 10th July from 2pm then you will get a sneaky peak at the wonderful work.

Commonwealth Sports Day

Year 5 and 6 had a fantastic day on Thursday during their sports day. There were cheers galore, especially for the winners Barbados. It was great to see so many parents (and grandparents) supporting the children and cheering them on. Thank you for all your support.

Beauty and the Beast Costumes

Year 5 play a very vital role in the production of Beauty and the Beast. We are learning to sing some very challenging songs, which tell the story and link the sections of the play together. We are also making props and helping with the scenery.

We would like you to dress as a ‘ Traditional French Villager’ as Beauty and the Beast is set in France in the 1700’s. We have put some images up to help you to decide what you could wear and we have also spoken to you about this. Please come and ask us if you are unsure about what to wear.

Sports Day

Don’t forget to come along and join us in our Year 5 and 6 Sports Day tomorrow – starting at 1.30pm.

Do you think the Suffragettes were right?

The Suffragettes campaigned for Women’s Rights in the early 1900s. Women at this time were oppressed, not being allowed to vote or have a job. To raise awareness of their cause, they committed many violent acts. Were they right to do this? What do you think?
