Life and learning

Evacuees

Truly irresistible learning today.

We travelled back in time to London in 1939. We imagined that we were children during the war. Our journey began in the streets of London, where we spent time in an Anderson shelter, before being evacuated on a train to the country and meeting the adults who would be taking care of us. After a day in our new homes, we wrote a letter home to our parents in London.

Making connections

We have been listening to the music which accompanies the emotional fim ‘The Piano’ and thinking about the emotions and images it portrays.

Then we explored items in a memory box, thinking about the different connections that there might be. The conversations and reasoning behind ideas were high quality.

Digging for Victory

We had a great start to the year thinking about the impact of food rations and the rationale behind the ‘Dig for Victory’ campaign.
