We have developed our telling the time skills, converting from analogue to 12hr digital and 24hr digital.  We’ve now used this to read timetables and solve problems involving time durations.  For your homework, can you show how this skill can be used in all of your everyday life?  For example, if you catch a bus, can you work out which one to catch and how long you’ll be on it?  If you are watching TV, can you look at the schedule and work out what you can watch and how ling you will watch it for?

Mental Maths

We have looked at how to add and subtract fractions with different denominators.  We’ve used our understanding of multiples to do this.  Can you use your mental maths skills to quickly work out a common denominator for a pair of numbers?  e.g. 4 and 5, the lowest common multiple is 20.  Remember, the lowest common multiple isn’t always the product of both numbers.

Homework 15.11.17

Welcome to Barvember!

We have worked on using bar models to solve problems and this week, we are challenging you to show someone else!  We’d love to see you teaching someone else about bar models and whether you can challenge them in their mathematical thinking!  Feel free to reply to this with a photo or message or tweet me @Waddallsaint to show your awesome work!  We’d love to see resilience and maybe even very confused faces!

Spellings

This week, the spellings are very easy but you need to know how to use them as modal verbs to suggest possibility.

can

could

may

might

must

shall

should

will

would

ought

Can you write a sentence which is grammatically accurate and makes sense for each?  Think about what the modal verb does to the meaning.

Who’s that on TV?!

Keep an eye out for us on TV tonight and on BBC Lincolnshire Radio!  We have had such an amazing week working with so many different people as part of our ‘Waddington Remembered’ project and the memorial service at the IBCC.  We are so lucky to be able to take part in these services.  Thank you to everyone who made it all possible.
